Day 1.
Join us on our guided tour to the ‘Bridge To Nowhere” departing from Pipiriki at 10:00 am. Enjoy the history and stories that we grew up with and share with you along the way to the “Bridge To Nowhere” landing on the jet boats.
Bring your lunch, we supply the tea, coffee and hot chocolate after a 40min walk you arrive at the “Bridge To Nowhere” where you sit back and enjoy lunch while your guide tells you the story of why the “Bridge To Nowhere” is there.
Returning back to the river at approx 2pm your guide will give you a demonstration and safety briefing on how to paddle your canoe. Spend 2 hours (12kms) paddling down to Tieke Kainga/hut in the afternoon.
Day 2.
Your second day is spent paddling from Tieke Kainga/hut back to Pipiriki (20kms). This takes 4-5 hours to paddle and you pass through some of the best scenery on the Whanganui River, with long flat sections of water and also some rapids to keep it refreshing.
CANOE/KAYAK TOURS:
This tour is available only during the summer months of October to April and is dependant on conditions.
IMPORTANT NOTICE:
NO ALCOHOL allowed on the river and whilst staying at Tieke Kainga while canoeing
