Whanganui River Adventures owns and operates Pipiriki Camping Grounds. Nau Mai, Haere mai (Welcome, welcome).
Your local Tangata Whenua (home people) Hosts – Ken and Josephine Haworth descend from local Hapu (sub-tribe) – Nqati Kurawhatia & Iwi – Te Atihaunui a-papa-rangi (local tribe).
Along with our local village staff, we welcome you to our secluded & secure campground, the perfect place to get away from all the hussle and bustle of the busy town life, or base yourselves, family and friends here & drive 45 mins – 1 hour comfortable to Mt Ruapehu, the popular Tongariro Crossing (1.5 hours), The coach Road (45 mins – 1 hour) and our ever popular The “Bridge to Nowhere” Mountain Bike Track (package options available to suit all) or do the Whanganui River Road Scenic Drive, right on our back door step for the leisurely holiday makers who love nature like us, we live it, love it and breath it. The perfect gettaway.
The Facilities
Our shared campers kitchen, lounge and dining is open planned and comfortable. Facilities includes fridge, oven and stove, microwave, toaster, boiling jug and hot & cold running water. Cooking and essential utensils are available to hire for a small fee. Ask about these at our office when checking in or just bring your own. Shared toilets on site. Small basic shelf shop, ice cream assortments and drinks available here.
Hot showers included in tariff. (Day trippers $5 pp)
Small Coin Operated laundrette is also available.

Pipiriki Camping Grounds is also only a 5 minute walk to the Whanganui River, great for the summer time swimming. Ask at our Booking Office about our Canoe / Kayaking tours, stunning scenic jetboat tours, Mountain Bike and walking tracks in the area, this is ONLY a few of the many options or just come and relax here at our secluded campground.
You are only 45 mins to 1 hour comfortable drive to Ohakune (Turoa Skifield town) or 1.5 to 2 hours comfortable drive to Wanganui for a Scenic days drive to town.
